René enjoys spending time with family and friends, photography, hiking, biking, traveling and reading, just to name a few things. She loves a good sunset anywhere but especially across the ocean on a good, clear night! René enjoys taking time to appreciate the small things in life and tries to never take life for granted, remembering that every day is a gift.
René is committed to serving with compassion and excellence in individualized, holistic patient care, treating each patient as she would want her family and herself to be treated: with dignity and respect. The focus of her care is maintaining health and independence as long as possible through collaborative efforts and informed decision making with patients and their significant others.
René has a wide variety of experiences in her 34 years of nursing, including 21 years as an advanced practice RN caring for patients with diabetes, HTN, heart and renal disease and COPD. She also spent over 16 years in long-term care, assisting the older adult population in aging gracefully while maintaining dignity and respect. She has spent an equal amount of time as a nursing professor at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, IN and always enjoys the opportunity to teach others.
