Adams County EMS responds to an average of 2,500 calls per year. Of those, approximately 75% are 911 emergency calls, and the remaining are facility transports for individuals who need to be transported to another hospital or nursing home. The majority of 911 calls in Adams County are in response to falls.

Commonly referred to as paramedics, EMS is a critical element of any strong emergency-response network. EMS teams respond rapidly to medical emergencies and help stabilize patients. In many cases, EMS teams transport patients to the hospital. Adams County EMS staff are highly trained and equipped with some of the best medical equipment available.

Meet the Team

Adams County EMS is comprised of 35 members, including 24 full-time and 11 part-time employees. The leadership team at Adams County EMS consists of four EMS shift supervisors who manage the day-to-day issues that arise between the three ambulance crews.

Adams Health supports three full-time ambulance crews 24/7 – two are based in Decatur and one is located in Berne. Adams County EMS staff members work 24-hour shifts.
